Using Clipboard to Perform File and Directory Operations

You can use Copy, Cut, and Paste commands from the Edit menu to copy or move selected files and directories to any directory. The copied or cut items remain on the clipboard until you cut or copy anything else to the clipboard (it overwrites items on the clipboard). The cut items are removed from the clipboard when you paste them (files and directories are moved). Files and directories are not stored in the clipboard directly; only references to them are stored.

Packing to and unpacking from archives and copying and moving from disk to plugin file system using Cut, Copy, and Paste commands are also supported.

You can use Copy, Cut, and Paste commands in different applications. For example, you can Copy files to the clipboard in Windows Explorer and Paste them to the archive opened in panel of Altap Salamander (and vice versa).

Once you have copied items on the clipboard you will see no change since the Paste operation will not affect selected files and directories. When the Cut command is used, icons of selected items will become ghosted. Moving these files and directories is delayed until the Paste command is invoked. When another Copy or Cut command follows instead of the Paste command, ghosted items will be reverted to the normal state.
